KG. The online retailer, which has been in business for over 20 years, is one of Germany\u2019s largest e-commerce companies. Since the middle of last year, it has relied on ProID smart cards to reliably protect its employees\u2019 digital identities.<\/p>\n

Among other factors, stricter legal requirements and guidelines made modern and robust identity management indispensable,\u201d explains Ralf Cornelius, System Administrator at Deuba.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ralf Cornelius, System Administrator at Deuba<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The project involved securing digital employee identities, modernizing the access system, and introducing high security standards through multi-factor authentication. \u201cThe project components included setting up a PKI infrastructure, the delivery and personalization of smart cards, and the implementation of software and applications for card lifecycle management,\u201d explains Du\u0161an Balko, Project Manager at ProID Solutions by Monet+.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Since this was the first implementation of a ProID card solution for a customer in Germany, the entire system was fully translated into German. This helped ensure that the new technology was quickly accepted by users.<\/p>\n \u201cAs with any technological transition, there was a brief adjustment period at first. Ultimately, however, the system has significantly simplified the login process. Our employees now appreciate how smoothly it works and are very satisfied with the solution, as it optimally combines security and convenience in their day-to-day work,\u201d adds Ralf Cornelius.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As part of the project, a total of 400 hybrid chip cards and 50 contactless cards were fully personalized. \u201cThe customer needed a cutout for mounting the cards, so the chip and antenna had to be positioned carefully to avoid compromising their functionality. In addition, we incorporated the requirement to distinguish cards by department using color-coding directly into the design,\u201d explains Du\u0161an Balko. Furthermore, compatible card readers and a card printer were supplied for later internal use.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Supporting work-from-home scenarios\u2014for example, in cases of blocked cards or forgotten PIN codes\u2014posed a particular challenge. \u201cProID proved to be an extremely solution-oriented partner in this regard. Together, we were able to develop efficient and user-friendly solutions for these specific support cases,\u201d reports Ralf Cornelius.<\/p>\n The rollout benefits not only the users but also the IT department. Thanks to clearly defined processes and a high degree of automation, the administrative workload in identity management was significantly reduced following the successful implementation. <\/p>\n\n
