Cybersecurity First: The Railway Authority Strengthens Identity Protection with the ProID Platform
The growing demands for cybersecurity and data protection do not spare even key government institutions. The Railway Authority, which administers state authority in railway matters, has therefore decided to take a step forward in the area of security. The implementation of multi-factor authentication (MFA) via the ProID by MONET+ platform has not only enabled the agency to meet strict security standards but has also simplified users’ daily work. Employees can authenticate using either a mobile app or a smart card.

The main impetus for updating employee identity management at the Railway Authority was, above all, the need to protect user accounts from misuse and bring internal processes into compliance with current standards.

As Václav Uhlíř, head of the Railway Authority’s internal administration department, explains, the institution was motivated to take this step primarily by growing demands for cybersecurity, the protection of user accounts, and ensuring compliance with security standards.
Careful selection played a key role in choosing a vendor for such critical infrastructure. According to Václav Uhlíř, several factors were decisive in the agency’s choice of this particular solution: “The deciding factor was a combination of experience, the quality of the proposed solution, and the ability to tailor the implementation to our requirements. The desire to work with a Czech vendor also played a role.”
Technological Challenge: Integration into the Keycloak Environment Without Disrupting Operations
In addition to enhancing security, the project had a clearly defined technological goal. The institution required the integration of our multi-factor authentication into the Keycloak platform, which it uses for identity and access management. The implementation team’s task was to ensure a seamless integration of both systems into a functional whole.
“The most challenging part was deploying the solution into the production environment while maintaining normal operations. ProID handled this part of the project professionally,” says Václav Uhlíř, assessing the implementation process.
A Change That Benefited Both the IT Department and Regular Employees
The introduction of these tools yielded tangible results at two key levels of the agency’s operations: System administration has become significantly more efficient. As a representative of the office confirms: “The IT department has gained better control over identity management and access security.”
Changing user habits is often a challenge with new technologies, but in this case, it brought clear benefits. “At first, users were somewhat hesitant to adopt the new technology, but gradually positive feedback prevailed. They particularly appreciate the simplified login process and the higher level of security for accessing workstations and the agency’s systems,” says Václav Uhlíř, describing the employees’ adaptation process.
Thanks to the smooth implementation and the use of local know-how, the main objectives of the project were successfully met. “We view the project positively. We expect an increase in access security and a reduction in the risk of user account misuse,” concludes Václav Uhlíř in his assessment of the collaboration.
