Apereo CAS for identity authentication and management

Apereo CAS (Central Authentication Service) is an open-source and centralized system for identity verification and single sign-on (SSO). CAS was developed as a project of the Apereo community.

The main purpose of CAS is to provide single sign-on for users. A user signs in once and then gains access to different services or applications without re-entering their credentials. The CAS works on the principle of central authentication, where the user is authenticated once and then these verifications are shared with other applications.

ProID enables secure two-factor login to the Apereo CAS administration interface and other tools using a mobile application and other means – a smart card and tokens. Authentication with ProID Mobile is handled via the Radius protocol and allows for a number of authentication methods (push notifications, SMS, OTP, etc.).

The administration interface of Apereo CAS and other applications from the Central Authentication Service category can be logged in using biometrics and other methods supported by smartphones.
